Mica is a Decorative Rock
Mica is a large group of more than 30 silicate minerals found in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Some of the best-known varieties include Muscovite, Biotite, Phlogopite and Lepidolite.
Mica is recognised for its thin, sheet-like layers and natural reflective sheen. Depending on the variety, it generally measures around 2.5–4 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it relatively soft.
Its layered structure allows Mica to split easily into very thin sheets, while its natural shimmer gives many varieties a distinctive pearly or reflective appearance.
Important sources include India, Brazil, Russia, Pakistan and several parts of Africa, with different regions producing different Mica varieties and qualities.
